Fasting Rules In Ramadan.

Fasting Pillars;

a) Abstaining (among other things)from food and drinks from dawn till sunset.

b) Intention(intent);It is necessary to perform intention but not bytongue but by heart during the night and before dawn for every day of fasting.Some religious scientists said if he performed intention for the whole month in the beginning in one intention it is acceptable.

Narrated `Umar bin Al−Khattab: I heard Allah's Apostle saying,
"Deeds (their correctness and rewards) depend upon intentions,
and every person gets but what he has intended. So whoever
emigrated for worldly benefits, or for a woman to marry, his
emigration is for what he emigrated for.

Deeds prescribed as Sunna(recommended deeds);

a) A late-night meal (a meal before daybreak during the month of Ramadan);

It is necessary to have the late-night meal(sahur) because it gives strength for fasting during the day.The prophet Muhammad (salalahu alaihi wasalam)guided us not to let the late-night meal.Anas bin malik (may Allah be pleased with him)Said:The prophet (pbuh) said:Take Sahur as there is a blessing in it.(Al Bukhari).The best time for taking Sahur is before dawn with enough time.

b) Breaking fasting hasten(hasten of the Iftar);

When the sun set muslims start breaking fast others are waiting for calling(Athan) in the mosques it is good to be sure that the sun has completely set.Narrated Sahl bin Sa'ad(may Allah be pleased with him)Allah's messenger (salahu alaihi wasalam)said:{The people will remain the right path as long as they hasten the Iftar(breaking of the fast) (AlBukhari).

c) Supplication ;

During breaking fast muslim can supplicates Allah with any good supplication because in this specific time the supplication is acceptable .Narrated Abdullah bin Al-As(may Allah be pleased with him)that the messenger of Allah (salalahu alaihi wasalam) said:{The person observing fast has a supplication cannot be returned(that means Allah accepted it) while breaking fast).

d) Refrain from deeds which discrepancy with fasting;

A muslim's fasting is not only from food and drink but also his organs and limbs should fast from bad deeds or sayings.Narrated Abu Horairah(may Allah be pleased with him)Said:The prophet (pbuh) said{whoever )does not give up lying speech (false statements)and acting on those lies and evil actions etc.Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink[i.e. Allah will not accept his Saum(fasting)AlBukhari.

e) Bounty and studying the Holy Qur'an;

Bounty is a nice behavior in muslim's life but in Ramadan it is increasing .A muslim give and do what ever he can for his brothers in Islam.The prophet (salalahu alaihi wasalam)was bountiful of all in Ramadan.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle was the most generous of
all the people, and he used to reach the peak in generosity in
the month of Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to
meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur'an.
Allah's Apostle was the most generous person, even more
generous than the strong uncontrollable wind (in readiness and
haste to do charitable deeds.

f) Working hard in worship during the last ten days and nights in Ramadan;

Ramadan is a blessed month all its days and nights are a blessing but the last ten days and nights are more blessing so the prophet( salalahu alaihi wasalam) was giving more effort in worship because they contain the greatest night(the special night- LailatulQadr).Narrated Aisha(may Allah be pleased with her)said;With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan,the prophet(pbuh) used to tighten his waist-belt (i.e.work hard)and used to offer Salat(prayer)all night.And used to keep his family awake for the Salat(prayer)}.

Permissible actions In Fasting;

a) Have a shower or pouring water on the body during fasting.Narrated Aisha and some of the prophet's followers that the prophet(pbuh) was spilling water on his head because of hot and thirsty and he was having showering during the day while he was fasting.

b) Medical Injections : The muslim who needs injections for pains or diabetic (sugar) or any similar case he can use ii while fasting because it is not food or the same of food.

c) Rinse(out) the mouth and nose while doing Ablution:

A muslim can rinse his mouth or nose while fasting when he is doing his ablution for prayer,but he should take care that nothing goes down to the throat or stomack.

d) Kohl:antimony(used for darkening the eyelids) and medical drops:

These things can be used through fasting.

Nullifiers of fasting:

a) Eating or Drinking deliberately:If he deliberates to eat or drink while fasting ,his fasting is not correct that day, in this case he should spend or fast another day after Ramadan. But if he ate or drank with forgotten ,his fasting is correct.

b)Vomiting: If vomiting attacked someone who is fasting there is no atonement but if he vomit deliberately he should spend that day after Ramadan.
Narrated AbuHurayrah:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: if one has a sudden attack of vomiting while one is fasting, no atonement is required of him, but if he vomits intentionally he must make atonement.
Menstruation or in a state of birth blood discharge;
Even that happened a moment before sunset,woman should make atonement to spend days after Ramadan.
Sexual intercourse;
It is prohibited during fasting in Ramadan,if somebody did he should make two atonements; 1) He must spend that day or days after Ramadan. 2) He must pay atonement which is ; a) to manumit ones neck .b) Fasting two continued months without separation .3) Give food for sixty poor persons.He cannot do one till he cannot do the one before.because it is gradually i.e. step by step.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
A man came to the Prophet and said, "I am ruined!" The Prophet said, "Why?" He said, "I had sexual intercourse with my wife while fasting (in the month of Ramadan)." The Prophet said to him, "Manumit a slave (as expiation)." He replied, "I cannot afford that." The Prophet said, "Then fast for two successive months." He said, "I cannot." The Prophet said, "Then feed sixty poor persons." He said, "I have nothing to do that." In the meantime a basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet . He said, "Where is the questioner." The man said, "I am here." The Prophet said (to him), "Give this (basket of dates) in charity (as expiation)." He said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall I give it to poorer people than us? By Him Who sent you with the Truth, there is no family between Medina's two mountains poorer than us." The Prophet smiled till his pre-molar teeth became visible. He then said, "Then take it."
